Canadian Vet Techs Recommend Be a Tree Program

The Canadian Association of Animal Health Technologists and Technicians reviewed the Be a Tree program at their national conference in July and have decided to extend the program their official recommendation. Doggone Safe president Joan Orr and CAAHTT Executive Director Sandy Hass will meet in February in Toronto to discuss a plan for national promotion of the Be a Tree program in Canada. This will bring vet techs across the country on board with the program to join their colleagues in Ontario and Saskatchewan who have already presented to thousands of school children in those provinces.

Member Update...

Puppy Bite Inhibition - Off You Win!...

By Carolyn Clark

Editor's note: This is our number one favourite method of teaching puppies to be careful and control their teeth while learning what "off" means. Published originally in the CAPPDT Forum - reprinted with permission from the author.

Teaching the Off command is a terrific way to show people how a dog learns by the immediate consequences of her behaviour. It also demonstrates that a dog learns in a very specific context and does not immediately generalize. This is also a lovely way to teach owners when to introduce a cue for the behaviourRead the full article
