Kids Say Thanks for Be a Tree Program

Doggone Safe member Esther Horn from Dana Point California has been doing Be a Tree presentations sponsored by the Pet Project Foundation. Esther received some terrific thank you notes from some fourth graders, which we are pleased to share with you...

"...I learned a lot from that presentation, it was very interesting. I told my Mom about it and she was amazed ... I saw this mean dog one day and I did the tree ..."

"... I liked the part when we got to come to front of the class and act things out. I didn't know that dogs don't like hugs and kisses ..."

"... It is helpful because if I see a strange dog I will know what to do. I also learned that dogs get scared too. I enjoyed learning about keeping safe ..."

" ... I really enjoyed doing the actions like the tree ... I am kind of afraid of dogs, but now I feel much safer ..."

Will My Dog Bite Again?...

By Kerry Vinson

I have worked with many dogs (and their owners) who have bitten someone and in the majority of cases these dogs do not bite anyone else. Canine aggression is a complex, multi-factorial problem that requires specific knowledge to correct. Some dogs may need to be in a household where there are no young children, whereas other dogs may be able to be desensitized through behaviour modification to almost any situation. Regardless, the sooner the this problem is addressed, the better the chances are that it can be corrected ... one thing is relatively certain: once it has surfaced, the phenomenon of canine aggression will not go away on its own without appropriate intervention.  Read the full article

In Print

From the Pittsburgh Tribune Review

Doggone Safe co-founder and vice president Teresa Lewin, wrote a letter to columnist John Ross explaining about being a tree if a dog is threatening. Mr. Ross published Teresa's letter and responded:

"Thank you for writing. Your website www.doggonesafe.com is very interesting. I recommend that all "Dog Talk" readers who would like to learn more about handling dog attacks to check it out."
